Guitar lessons

for all ages

It's acknowledged by even the greatest players that it is impossible to know everything about any musical instrument. The guitar is no exception. The myriad styles, techniques, and rhythms make it an endless subject. Fundamentals are key though, and whether you are picking up the guitar for the first time or just need some help adapting or expanding your playing abilities, we can help.

When it comes to teaching guitar, it's not only technical ability and a good ear that are necessary: being a good communicator and possessing the ability to connect with people are of equal importance. We pride ourselves on our friendly and relaxed approach. As with any study, you will get out of it what you are prepared to put into it and with that in mind, we are committed to guiding you in reaching your goal.

Whether you are you are five or fifty, at primary school or retired, we can help you to become a better guitar player. If you have always had the desire to learn but never acted on it, maybe now is the time to give it a try. You can do it!

What do I need?

To succeed at learning guitar you will need a certain amount of dedication. You'll also need the desire to succeed. Oh, and you'll need to own a guitar. Strictly speaking, this isn't true; during your lessons, you are welcome to use any of the available guitars we have on site but you will find it beneficial to have your own so you are able to practise outside of lesson time.

What will I learn?

This is basically up to you. For beginners, it will be necessary to go through the fundamentals of the guitar and learn the basics of music theory before progressing to tuning, rhythms, and other techniques. If you already have these skills then we can adapt our lessons to focus on exactly those areas in which you feel you need to improve.

We believe in making learning the guitar an enjoyable experience. After all, that's the whole purpose of playing guitar, isn't it? To have fun. Anything worth having usually cannot be achieved quickly but the ride can be as difficult or as easy as you want to make it for yourself. You might be surprised at how accomplished you can become in a relatively short time. The thing you need is practice. Whether it be as little as ten minutes a day, or hours, it's up to you, but little and often is a rule we encourage; practise every day, and if you're a beginner you will find that in a couple of months you have the ability to play literally hundreds of songs; if you're more experienced and trying to nail that solo or a particular fingerstyle technique, if you practise, and in the right way, then it will come.
